Website design and development for {Access}ories

Access’ories revolutionizes teeth brushing by
proposing a portable add-on toothbrush device that is
produced to order based on each user’s needs. In the
{access}ories line, a digital platform assists individuals
with dexterity challenges, such as arthritis, carpal
tunnel, and tremors, in selecting from 142 different
attachment shapes to make their electric or manual
toothbrush easier to hold.

Oral care is inaccessible for many living with disabilities. Through desk and user research, we discovered people are having to hack their toothbrush to adapt it to their condition –
using the likes of sponges, elastic bands and straps to create the grip and support they need, but also making the experience very uncomfortable.​

My team wanted to do something about this – now. ​

Our next step was to co-create the solution with those living with dexterity issues. Using our Accessible Design Now! approach, we co-created with those living with dexterity challenges, learning their oral care
needs and desires through a Makers Lab designed to explore every step of their oral care experience – from ordering and unboxing, to maintenance and use. ​

This led us to create a fit for purpose solution.

I managed the production of a simple digital platform allows users customize their handle to their personal needs, referencing everyday objects as they choose the shape
that works for them. They can select the colour and finish of their handle so that the product is not only accessible but desirable too.​To facilitate visualisaton ahead of confirming their choice, the interface features a WebGL component allowing the user to review their selected add-on from
all angles.

After a beta testing phase in April 2023, we partnered with Ordo, a toothbrush brand on a mission to make the product more accessible and Batch.com , pioneering a circular manufacturing model that enables just-in-time production at scale.
